Background of Bakshiganj Upazila: Bakshiganj is the name of an ancient and historical town. However, there are various differences over the naming of Bakshiganj. In this regard, in an article published on pages 44-45 of Bakshiganj Upazila Memorial by former founder principal of Bakshiganj Qiyamat Ullah College Mamtaz Uddin Nader and Professor Tofazzal Hossain, it has been mentioned that “ Was. A ditch or dormitory was built around him; And a small hut was gradually built around this dormitory. According to the name of the person with supernatural powers, it is called Bakshi Hat. In the evolution of time, the Bakshir Hat of the past is now known as "Bakshiganj". Until 30th April 1972, Bakshiganj was a union. Bakshiganj "Thana" was upgraded from Bakshiganj "Union" on 30 April 1972 with a total of 06 Union Parishads comprising 05 unions from Dewanganj Thana and 2 unions from Sreevardi Thana. Exactly 17 (seventeen) months later, i.e. on 14th September 1983, Bakshiganj Thana was upgraded to "Bakshiganj Upazila".
